Spammers Everywhere!

Postby plamplam » Sun Jul 24, 2011 10:54 pm

I know UVA admins are working hard in order to maintain this site, and of course I do appreciate it. However, I am sorry to say that I believe this site is no longer a forum anymore. There are spammers everywhere around. Download blood diamond for free hd buy viagra at only $5.99 etc etc. These users should get banned and I believe UVA should have some anti-spam policy or sth.
Why don't you consider blocking posting URl or sth? At least banning spammers should help too.
(Sorry I really don't have a clue whether spammers are banned or not, there are so many spammers around in these days...)

Yes, it's a big problem now. I delete something like 200 spams everyday.

Blocking URLs isn't the best solution as this will prevent regular users from posting useful URLs. Anyways, the best solution is to use a better Captcha to prevent those bots from spamming.

Hi,
all graphical captchas have already been cracked. I switched to the Q/A to see if this improves...

Does anyone know a plugin for phpbb which currently stands spammers attacks?

Looks like we have managed to get rid of the spammers.
The Q/A feature works fine. :)
